Sweet Sea Creatures ✦ Promo
For this branding project, I chose my own brand, gummmydragon. My brand is based on dinosaurs and preshistoric animals, but illustrated in a whimsical way. Most times, the designs are mixed with food or cute things, and I make merchandise from my character concepts. I wanted to advertise my brand, but didn’t want it to feel like I was selling something. Instead, I created a world for my Sweet Sea Creature characters to interact, and give them life!
Process
I started with storyboards, then moved to an animatic. This helped figure out the timing. Each creature is puppeted separately, and each piece that moves was created on a separate layer. This helped aid the cut paper puppet look I was going for, and the paper texture and saturation of the colors brought the piece together.
