FUTURA (The Infinite Typeface) ✦ Type Specimen Book
I was assigned a typeface to create a specimen book, and highlight the unique and practical aspects of that face, in order to sell it to potential designers. The concept I wanted to push was how FUTURA is ageless, geometric, and modern. The design was influenced by minimal design and modern gradient aesthetics.
Booklet Flip Through
There are only 12 pages, yet each one is a unique experience. Although there is consistency of style and layout throughout the booklet, each spread calls attention to Futura’s unique attributes as a typeface.
Process
The concept of using the counters of the letters was a decided early on, and from there, the design system was based around a modular grid. Scaled up letters (spelling out FUTURA) are the base that the spreads were designed off of.
